Description

Sorry for the odd angle... XD

Anyway, here is my pride and joy, 'Cymraeg Lady' ('Welsh Lady' in English) in the image I drew this morning. You see, I've always loved the Ffestiniog Railway's 'Welsh Pony', however I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the name, maybe it's the livery, all I know is that she's my favourite and I'm glad she is!

I chose to base the first locomotive off of a George England saddle tank because I love the design. The livery is based off of the ones that 'Welsh Pony' and 'Palmerston' wear with the addition of my own twist and favourite colour of 'Navy Blue'! The name took a while to think of, but I soon narrowed it down to have three things I wanted it to be like;
:bulletblue: Based off 'Welsh Pony' (so 'Welsh Something')
:bulletblue: To sound lady-like.
:bulletblue: To be in Welsh!

So with the name decided, I worked on a backstory as to how this gem managed to enter existence;

With the Skye Railway under construction, everyone had gone looking for practical designs for the line - nothing too small that the coaches would tower about it and nothing too big so that it would crush the rails; nothing too weak so that it could actually pull the trains and nothing too strong so its strength wouldn't be wasted. A member of the carriage and wagon department took a holiday with his wife and children to Wales where they found the Ffestiniog Railway. The man stared at Prince, Palmerston, Princess and Welsh Pony, watching them do their work swiftly - their design was perfect! So when he returned home, he spoke to the Chairman who discussed arrangements with the Ffestiniog who eventually agreed to build them their very own engine to that same design. When the unnamed beauty arrived, she was in 'Works Grey' and in a different shape than expected. It was soon discovered that the Ffestiniog locomotives were to receive a refit to this design and so they incorporated it into this young 'gem' that stood before them. She was soon moved into the shed (or hut) that the men had built to be painted before a set of nameplates finally came along. It had been decided to christen her 'Cymraeg Lady' and this Welsh Lady has proven to be a valuable asset to the Skye Railway and always will.

And there you have it - how 'Cymraeg Lady' came to be! More coming along the way too!

(NOTE, THIS IS A FICTIONAL ITEM FOR MY USE ONLY AND CANNOT BE USED WITHOUT MY PERSON, NEITHER CAN THE SKYE RAILWAY)
